Cathy Van Den Essen

I completed my Craft Degree in 1991, majoring in Gold and Silversmithing. Life’s journey has brought me family, motherhood and now, Designer Jeweller in precious metals, stones and wood.
I love the different colours and patterns in the timbers that can make it look like it has texture. l also like experimenting with textures in my metals. My inspiration comes from life, nature, communication and symbolism, (historical, cultural and modern) in particular the Heart Shape and the Runes; the Vikings used them as a simple form of communication, an unspoken language. I hope my individual pieces communicate to you.
