Inspiration for my artwork comes from my love of nature, and my home in a beautiful tranquil valley with huge mountain ash and flowing water.
Recently I have begun to explore the elemental qualities of copper and dry point. Its velvet subliminal qualities suggestive of movement have a fragile and textual quality, which is in direct contrast with the hard-edged application on the surface of the copper. The mark has a physicality, which is drawn directly onto the plate, derived from my insight into the environment.
The importance of the mark making process and its strength provides a glimpse into another detailed world.
