Pennylane Studio

John travels to many locations in an endless search for that “never to be found” subject. His preferred subjects include the land, the sea, boars and beaches. Being mainly self-taught, he enjoys working in groups and advises other to do similar as there is so much to learn and cannot be learned by an individual alone in just one lifetime. His works hang in numerous collections, both private and corporate. A number of awards and commendations are to his credit. John is an enthusiastic member of the Australian Guild of realist Artists, and of the Prestigious group Valley 10.

Jo’s creative journey has taken many turns but each medium she has worked in has enriched the ones to follow. Always there is evidence of her love of nature. Her work is generally three dimensional with a fluid, organic feel, whether in ceramics, textiles, jewellery or natural fibres. Although Jo is known for her wirework jewellery, she has returned to Healesville from interstate to work in natural fibres, weeds and reeds, bark and flowers, gathered entirely from the Yarra Valley. Her new studio gives her the space to work in a variety of materials.

Beverley works with natural fabrics such as silk, linen, wool and cotton. She collects leaves from the Yarra Valley to dye the fabrics before transforming them into eco-friendly, biodegradable, wearable art. Beverley’s creative process is time rich – it takes many weeks for the imprint to appear on the fabric before it is embellish with hand stitching and embroidery. Beverley recycles textiles to make scarves, felted bowls, cushion covers and home wares. In winter she turns to felt, nuno and prefect to make hats and waistcoats. Beverley also tutors workshops on textile art at schools and businesses in Melbourne.

Lynne’s studio in an old dairy overlooks the picturesque Woori Yallock Valley. Inspiration from this beautiful setting has led her to create a range of new colourful high temperature glazes for her softly thrown tableware as well as evolving designs for her signature porcelain and gold ware. In contrast, Lynne continues to use different hand formed techniques to create pieces for use in the landscape. Whimsical plant totems, frog houses, fountains, water catchers and majestic Queen Head planters can all create a focal point for a garden or balcony.
