I was born into an artistic family and have sewn, sketched and written poetry since childhood. I use recycled items such as ties and scarves, which I group according to colour, theme and textile, then hand-sew into a unique fabric, sculpted over the body as ‘Wearable Art’. I enjoy the process of discovery involved in collaborating with people to express their personal style. I am currently creating a calendar, based on original designs, celebrating the wisdom and beauty of older women in personal and environmental healing.
I work in ‘The Sheila’s Shed’, a purpose-built studio, workshop and gallery situated at the foothills of Mt Donna Buang, in lush and peaceful surroundings.
