Tim Peel

The development of my discipline as a goldsmith is marked by four significant events; discovering jewellery as a child, graduating as a goldsmith from Monash University, opening Silvermist Studio in Healesville and being accepted as a Fellow into the Gold and Silversmiths Guild of Australia.
For me, jewellery has become an intimate form of sculpture where function is given equal or greater importance than form. By melting, hammering and bending precious metals around gemstones I handcraft beautiful treasures.
From symbolic and meaningful for special events to experimental landscapes, miniature sculptures or just plain whimsical, every piece that I make is filled with the passion and excitement of creating.
